About this Retreat

Join NYT-bestseller Beth Revis and award-winner Cristin Terrill in beautiful Asheville, North Carolina for five days of learning, writing, relaxation, and fun!

With an intimate group of no more than fourteen writers, you'll learn craft tips and publishing secrets from Beth and Cristin in a series of morning workshops and meet with each author one-on-one for a critique of your current manuscript. Beth focuses on the big picture, examining your structure and plot via a five-page synopsis and helping you troubleshoot problem areas, while Cristin gets into the nitty-gritty of your first 3,000 words, offering tips to refine things like characterization, voice, and style. Together this gives you a holistic overview of your work. Have more questions or need further advice during the week? No problem, because you'll be eating, writing and hanging out alongside the authors everyday, and they are always happy to help.

After the morning dedicated to learning, your afternoons are free for you to get some serious words in. Grab a lounge chair by the lake or spread out on a couch and get to work! Need to take a break? Grab a new friend for a walk down one the many scenic hiking trails or go for a dip in the on-site swimming hole . After a delicious dinner, get some more writing done, roast some s'mores over the lakeside fire pit, or do some stargazing from the hot tub.

On Saturday, we'll take a group field trip to the historic Biltmore Estate, America's largest and most lavish Gilded Age mansion. Armed with the writing implement of your choice, we'll spend the day talking about the power of setting and description in your novel and putting those lessons into practice through a series of writing games and exercises as we tour the mansion and gardens.

You'll return home with new words written, new enthusiasm for your project, and new friends to join you on your publishing journey!
